Recommended cost buckets

• Product cost: landed cost including manufacturing, inbound freight, and packaging.
• Referral or platform fee: the percentage fee charged on qualified transactions.
• Payment or processing cost: card, marketplace, or transaction processing assumptions.
• Fulfillment: pick, pack, warehouse, or third-party logistics cost per order.
• Shipping subsidy: money you contribute to make an offer more attractive.
• Creator commission: affiliate percentage paid on creator-driven sales.
• Sample cost allocation: sample cost divided by estimated converted orders.

Why separate fees matter

If you only track gross margin, you may approve a creator commission that works at one shipping cost but fails when a promotion, sample batch, or refund rate changes. Separate buckets make the weak link visible.
